Mu is not only the first koan, it can be viewed as the only koan. Koan Zen teachers work with Mu throughout their lives and while supporting students in formal koan practice.
In this daylong we will begin to peel back a few of the layers of Mu while doing guided meditations deep into the Absolute – the home of Mu.
This daylong will include Dharma talks, guided meditations, 15-minute breaks, and ample time for questions or comments among the group.
Suitable for beginning meditators, as well as those in the intermediate and advanced groups.
This event will be recorded. If you are unable to attend live, signing up will give you access to the recording afterwards.
Case 1 Jōshū’s “Mu” A monk resting in everyday mind, experiencing self-doubt, queried Jōshū, “Does that stray dog have Buddha Nature?” Master Jōshū answered, “Mu.” (Mu means “No”, “Not”, “Without”, or “No-thing”.)
