In the Zen tradition, a teacher authorizes a student to begin teaching through the process and ceremony of transmission. It is a transmission of empowerment of the sacred realizations of the past Zen masters of the lineage.
Rick Archer at the Buddha at the Gas Pump (BatGap) program recently interviewed Stephen about his path to meditation practice, his writing, and concepts Buddhist of self, ethical behavior, awakening, and the absolute.

Thank you, Rick, for welcoming Stephen to your program!
Stephen joined Steve James at the Guru Viking podcast for this bonus episode in which he offered a guided Absolute Peace Meditation.
Stephen’s students have found this meditation helpful when working with the fear and anguish of the war in Ukraine.
The discussion delved into topics of energetic resonance of awakening, facsimiles of awakening, confusion around awakening, how to work with intensity and blocks, fear of no-self, and much more.
Thank you to James Burns for inviting Stephen as a guest for a wonderful dharma discussion on the inaugural episode of JB Podcast.
James’s thoughtful questions invited an interesting discussion about jhāna (absorption concentration), Four Elements meditation, and how the ancient Buddhist heart practices can lead to transcendent states arising within awareness and consciousness.

I am going on Reddit to do an ama (ask me anything) on December 16th or 17th, 2021. See you there!
